Naomi Kobayashi - Japan

The artist reveals...

...how lace is significant to their work

“Like lace, the work is about the spaces between”.

...the ideas behind the work

“ The columns rise up like mist, giving a light flexible border dividing exterior and interior within an architectural space”.

Naomi Kobayashi exhibited at Lausanne Tapestry Biennale from 1977 to the final event in 1995. Other exhibitions include National Museum of Singapore (2007). Collections include Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, V&A, London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
