The artist reveals...

...the techniques used to make the work

“Line is made from stitched layers of dyed cloth, subsequently bleached, burnt and chemically printed”.

...the ideas behind the work

“A visit to the new Fashion and Lace Museum in Calais and remembering the darkness, lighting and patterned shadows across the wooden floors projected from the beautiful strips of historic lace, started my thinking for this ‘time-line’. It is a broken line of regularly defined repeated lengths, loosely referencing different periods of time, emotion and life”.

Diana Harrison is the winner of the Silver Award 7th Nihon Quilt Exhibition Tokyo. Exhibitions include Quilts at the V&A, London (2010), and collections include the British Crafts Council, the V&A and the International Quilt Study Centre, University of Nebraska, USA.
